This is one of two sketchbooks I made with my childhood friend, Kenny Harris. They are intended as travelling sketchbooks, tailored to his precise tastes.
In technical terms, this is a three-signature sketchbook with three sheets per signature, sewn unsupported with kettlestitches. The spine was lined with one layer of unbleached linen and one layer of kraft paper adhered with PVA. We then cased in the book with cardboard covered in black goatskin, with a French groove. The back cover was too pliable, so we added another sheet of cardboard before gluing the endpapers down. The book has no squares and an elastic band paralleling the fore edge. The case was then silver foil tooled with Kenny's initials, reversed initials on the back cover, my bindery mark, and the year. The paper for the book, selected by Kenny, was 185 gsm acid-free watercolour paper.
